The barrel looked terrible at first but with some elbow grease and a 20 shots at the range, the bore smoothed out considerably. The rear barrel band retaining spring had broken off at some point, causing the handguard to shift down the barrel. I have since replaced it and put everything back. I did not see any significant rust. There was some very minor rust on the bolt itself, which came off easily with sandpaper. I had a pretty bad sticky bolt problem, but after sanding the grooves on the bolt, realigning the extractor spring, drowning the bolt in CLP, cutting a link on the firing pin spring, and switching to brass case, it seems to have gone away completely.
It has a beautiful laminated refurb stock. Other than the barrel, everything else is force-matched Izzy. Third picture is a better photo of a mystery mark, the rectangle with a cross on the bottom. I haven't been able to find anything about this anywhere, and someone on reddit said they had seen it on one other rifle. Would appreciate any info!
