Description
A Romanian infantryman poses outside a military building holding a Russian-designed M1891 Mosin–Nagant rifle. Beside the entrance, a Romanian-language plaque reads “Regimentul 93 Infanterie — Compania 11,” identifying the premises with the 11th Company of the 93rd Infantry Regiment.
The 93rd Infantry Regiment, known as “Cloșca,” was established after the First World War and stationed at Arad, making that city a plausible location for this portrait. Probably dating from the early interwar period, the photograph provides a clearly identifiable example of Romanian military use of the Mosin–Nagant
