Landwehr-Infanterie-Regiment Nr. 37 of the XIV (Baden) Corps district served primarily as a defensive and occupation infantry formation on the Eastern Front from 1915 through 1918, composed of older reservists tasked with holding stabilized sectors and supporting artillery positions rather than conducting assault operations. They occupied the area of Nowa Wieś after the Gorlice–Tarnów offensive of 1915, and they were armed with capture Russian M91 Mosin Nagant rifles
